About Michael McQueen

Michael McQueen has been practicing law for over 40 years, and his professional achievements are unparalleled. After graduating from Southwestern School of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of Law Review, he hung up his shingle in Encino, California as a sole practitioner. He sought as much trial and litigation experience as possible in the areas of personal injury, family law, wills and trusts, partnership dissolutions, business formation, and criminal matters. If it involved a courtroom, he was there.

When Union Oil asked that he join their in-house legal staff to handle their Geothermal division and alternative energy projects, Michael McQueen eagerly agreed. There he served as counsel for the World’s Largest Geothermal Project – the Geysers; he provided legal guidance to energy projects in the Philippines, Indonesia, Guatemala, Chile, Italy, and New Zealand, shaping the future global landscape of energy policy.

Because of his unique combination of geology and litigation experience, Michael McQueen supervised major litigation involving utilities and municipalities in California. He was heavily involved in toxic tort cases, water litigation, and multimillion-dollar contractual litigation with the major California utilities. Registered as a California lobbyist, he was the primary sponsor and draftsman for cogeneration air quality legislation for the energy industry. He supervised interventions in major landmark natural resource cases as well as two amicus curiae briefs before the United States Supreme Court. McQueen also acted as lead counsel for $10 million federal civil action involving abatement responsibility for hazardous waste ponds;

In 1991, Michael McQueen established his private law practice, helping clients build their businesses and family trusts. Over the years, he has helped thousands of individuals, families and businesses, and prevailed in several multimillion-dollar lawsuits. Mr. McQueen obtained the largest Judgment of $9 million in the Chatsworth Metrolink Train Disaster; obtained a defense verdict in a multi-million dollar complex securities fraud trial; obtained a multimillion-dollar settlement with Playboy; was corporate counsel for a $64 million-dollar jury verdict against Spice Entertainment; and negotiated a $10 million sale of a startup venture to the 3M Company.

Over the years, he has served representative clients such as Mobil Oil, Kinko’s, Reebok, and St. Jude’s Hospital, among many others. The breadth and depth of his experience is undeniable, and he looks forward with excitement for what the future holds for him and his clients.
